Horses all have that one special person...

Updated: 14 hours ago

Selling horses is as bittersweet as anything we do, but necessary as you grow a training business. You spend so much time, energy, ups and downs making the horse into their best version. Searching for the right niche' and direction can be challenging but when you find it, Oh how rewarding! I thought this little mare Metallic Bella would be heading towards the cow work end of things but she very quickly let me know that she just didn't have the needed drive to be successful. She was not afraid and would go into the herd, sort a cow off, and give a few quick darts and dashes- then she would just get slower and slower as her interest waned. And at first, I was disappointed. Then I got to thinking... she was quiet, responsive, soft, kind, forgiving... you never had to lunge her- just saddle up and go to work. I often gave lessons on her for that very reason. So, I started focusing on her strengths. Long story short: I quit trying to fit a round peg in a square hole and found the round hole.

Annabelle and Cullen Hollis came to visit one day and to look at Bella. It was obvious from the first moment there was a special connection forming between Cullen and Bella. And by the third visit, Cullen confidently led Bella to load up in their trailer and go to her new home. To watch them together, speaking in their own language, the give and take, the patience and understanding that they had for one another- it was heartwarming!

It wasn't the path I had in mind when we started this journey- It was way better!

UPDATE: Bella is back home at 7H where she is continuing her progress. She will always welcome Cullen back for visits and have a special place in her heart for him!

God's Plan is always far greater than Ours!
